Winter is here, and with it comes the wastefulness of the holiday season.

How many times have you gone to a Christmas or New Year's Party and used paper plates and plastic cutlery? All those leftovers that you can't finish in time before they go bad and inevitably have to be thrown away. All those plastic knives and forks that get thrown away without a second thought. All that wrapping paper used only to be balled up and thrown away.

You might be thinking, "well, how am I supposed to change that?"

I have a little challenge for you.

I challenge you to complete a simple task towards helping the environment every day for a week. If you complete a task, click the ¨completed¨ button to show your dedication. From the people who complete all seven days, three people will be chosen randomly. Those three will receive:

- a Parkland backpack made from recycled plastic bottles

- a Keep Pensacola Beautiful canvas bag

- a Keep Pensacola Beautiful reusable silverware set

- a Keep Pensacola Beautiful reusable water bottle

Make sure you click the button on the day that you complete or use that day's hashtag on Instagram to tell me that you completed the challenge!

Huge thanks to Parkland and Keep Pensacola Beautiful for their donations!

The challenge will start on December 10th, 2019 at 12:00 A.M. and end on December 24th, 2019 at 11:59 P.M. Each challenge will be posted on Instagram @legume.official and this website. Make sure you check this website regularly to stay updated!

Day 1: Use A Reusable Water Bottle

Day 2: Just Take Two Napkins

Day 3: Count Your Plastic

Day 4: Wear Green

Day 5: Shop With Your Own Bag

Day 6: Take A Walk

Day 7: Ocean Hour Cleanup

Each task is short and easy, but every task will help make Pensacola a greener place to live. Make sure you click the "completed" button, message me on Instagram, or email me at legume.official@gmail.com to let me know that you completed the challenge! Or even better, post a picture of you completing the challenge on Instagram with the hashtag provided for each day!

Don't forget to spread the word! The more people that complete this challenge the more impact we will have!

12/10/19 - There was a problem with the complete button on the event pages for the days. The issue is now fixed.

Live Green!
